An old friend

Nov. 17 - I would like to introduce you to a great friend of mine - Susan. We go back a long ways. She is the doula, who helped my mommy cope with the pain of my entry into this world.

Here I am fast asleep after a sumptuous meal. As I have mentioned before, I frequent two restaurants in my neighbourhood where they have only one item on the menu. Anyway Susan helps these restaurants with customer service, ie. she is a lactation consultant.

I wake up every 2-3 hours these days to order food. Its a drive through restaurant, but unlike others, here the restaurant comes to you. I place my order - sometimes I have to shout at the top of my lungs to get their attention - and the restaurant comes right upto me, picks me up and whisks me off to a nice little cushion where I can relax and have my meals. I usually spend 1 hour here napping and slurping, but get yanked off sometimes to have my bottom cleaned and new clothes put on. This has been outsourced to another company, viz. my dad, and I have to often complain about the service here, but that is another story.

Snow!

Nov. 22 - My first major snowfall. 20-cm. of snow came early this year. Oni was eager to check it out and went out into the backyard with just a sari. On the trail behind the house she found a snowman. They left me behind :-(

Tummy Time

Nov. 18 - About once a day I am put on my tummy. Occasionally I will lie quietly and look around. Here I crane my neck to stare in amazement at the huge head in front of me. This head is attached to my two favourite restaurants.

I am able to lift up my head and almost do a pushup.

Oil Bath and My First Pram Ride

Nov. 17 - I had an oil bath today. They rubbed me with coconut oil, held me in the washbasin filled with warm water, and Oni grabbed some Basin powder in her wrist and quickly applied it on me before rinsing it off.

I must confess that I enjoyed the bath this time, although I have instructed my handlers to raise the temperature of the bath water by 2 or 3 degrees next time.

That is me in the pram. Mommy is in red, and she is responsible for clothing me in seven layers of clothes - a onesie, sleeper, red sweater, swaddle cloth, yellow blanket, blue blanket, blue cap, mittens, and socks. And no, the one on the left is not a russian soldier, but Oni dressed in all black, and ready to take on anything that the Canadian winter might throw at her. Today she was unfazed, save for a few sniffs, and even walked quite briskly through the park without being out of breath.

Asleep on Daddy

Nov. 15 - While daddy watches evening news I have dozed off on his shoulder. From what I could hear India won the 1-day cricket series against Pakistan and for the 1128th consecutive day OMNI TV South Asian News have proclaimed Aishwarya Rai as the "most beautiful woman in the world".

My Gifts

Nov. 12 - Yesterday more family friends visited. I got many gifts. I arranged for them to have some Indian sweets and "namkeen". Here I am doing some stomach crunches on a nice blanket I got with assorted animals on it.

Goodbye Aunty Seema...

Nov. 11 - See you at Christmas! Cant believe she will drive back 8 hours. I refuse to even drive a car. When she came a week ago she got a speeding ticket near the border. So I deduce she was eager to see someone here in Ottawa. Not sure who.

Deep thought - My photos in the Sun

Nov. 9 - These days I like to sun myself everyday since I have a yellow jaundiced look on my face. I often take this time to relax and contemplate the world. I do not like to be disturbed during these time, but once in a while I do let paparazzi invade my personal space...
1. I have layed myself down on Oni's bed, my scantilly folicled scalp absorbing the sunlight.
2. Here I am contemplating the E8 pattern - Is it the Unifying theory of everything?
3. What are the main differences between the String theory and this new theory?
4. Also which is my ear and which is my nose? Too confusing... let me nap...

Happy Diwali

I was invited to a Diwali prayer. Oni, my grandma, was the main priestess and chanted some complex sounding prayers in Sanskrit and lit prayer lamps. Aunt Seema was on hand to offer fruits and take some photos. My mom looked grand in her green sari which she spent 1 hour to wear.

Women wearing pants

Nov. 7 - Is it me or is Oni wearing pants??!! Before I was born I did my research on this family and I was certain Oni never wore pants. I suspect Aunty Seema and Grand-aunty Lalitha had a hand in this. I will have to keep an eye on both of them.

Oni Burping me

Nov. 7 - Soon after my 3-hourly milk snack I am partial to being burped. Apart from the shoulder burp (which I prefer) here is Oni doing a hand procedure that works quite well too. Let me explain...

Here I sit on Oni's lap. Next let me demonstrate the various stages I go through....
1. I get held under my chin and get patted on my back whence I concentrate and generally look around.
2. I feel a rumbling in my stomach.

3. Hang on... I feel it coming.4. There... that is it.
5. Back to square 1
